Indian leather industry is the eighth largest source of India's foreign exchangeand offers employment to about 2.5 million workers. Leather exports fromIndia have increased from US$ 4,634.92 million in 2011-12 to US$ 5,908.82million in 2013-14. The Indian leather industry comprises five key segments,viz., (i) tanning and finished leather, (ii) leather footwear, (iii) leathergarments, (iv) leather goods and accessories and gloves, and (v) saddlery andharness.
