Amartya Mukhopadhyay, Professor, Political Science, Calcutta University, has published in diverse areas of public policy, international relations, Indian politics, cultural politics, and literature. Author of Politics of Implementation: Mass Transportation Policy for Calcutta 1947-1989, Politics, Society and Colonialism: An Alternative Understanding of Tagore's Responses, and Civil Society and Global Governance: Indian Experience (edited), he makes in the present book a bold new attempt at a relook at Russian Orientalism from the perspective of travel discourses in India.
