
John Harriss
John Harriss in an emeritus professor of international studies at Simon Fraser University. He has also held teaching positions at the University of East Anglia and the London School of Economics, where he was a founder of the Development Studies Institute. In 2017, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He has published extensively on various aspects of India?s political economy, and is the author of widely cited books including Capitalism and Peasant Farming (1982); Reinventing India: Liberalisation, Hindu Nationalism and Popular Democracy (2000, with Stuart Corbridge); and Depoliticizing Development: The World Bank and Social Capital (2000).
