Y. N. Varma

Y. N. Varma was among the most prominent and admired civil servants of the early decades of free India. He joined the Provincial Civil Service in 1936 and held several significant positions through a career of over thirty-five years. He was the first Home Secretary of Delhi State, Excise Commissioner of UP, head of the Indian Airlines Corporation and Director General of All India Radio. He retired from service in 1971.
