Chandrashekhar Dasgupta

Chandrashekhar Dasgupta served in the Indian Foreign Service from 1962 to 2000. He was ambassador to China (1993?96) and the European Union (1996?2000), and a member of the Prime Minister?s Council on Climate Change. He was elected to serve on the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights for three successive terms from 2007 to 2018. Dasgupta was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2008. His publications include War and Diplomacy in Kashmir, 1947?48 and numerous articles on Indian diplomatic history, climate change and sustainable development.
