Dr. Mahendra Mittal

Dr. Mahendra Mittal is basically a litterateur. He is an M.A. in Hindi literature and was awarded a Ph.D. in the same subject. Born in a middle class Vaishya family of Hapur, Distt. Ghaziabad on 12.06.1933, Dr. Mahendra Mittal had begun taking interest in literature ever since his age of adolescence. His first novel was published in the year 1959, which served as a text book in different educational institutions for years together. By now he has written eight novels, two dramas, two story collections, one research work, more than twenty books on different subjects, more than a hundred story books for children and, folklore. He has won awards on many of his books. For the last fifteen years he has been editing and publishing two periodicals, viz. Udyog Prabhat (fortnightly) and Andhayug (weekly). The book 'THE ESSENCE OF THE VEDAS' shows how deeply Dr. Mahendra Mittal has studied the subject, and it also throws light on his capability of bringing out such arduous subjects in so simple language and style.
