Michel Leiris (191-9) was one of the most influential French intellectuals and writers of the twentieth century and the author of Manhood. Brent Hayes Edwards is a professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. His translations include works by Aim C saire, Edouard Glissant, and Jacques Derrida. His own books include The Practice of Diaspora and Epistrophies.
