Syeda Saiyidain Hameed

Syeda Saiyidain Hameed is a women?s rights activist, educationist and writer. She is a former member of the Planning Commission as well as the National Commission for Women. She also served as chancellor of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, until 2015. She has authored and edited translations as well as books on Islam, Sufism, gender and development. In 2007, she was received the Padma Shree for her service to Indian society.
