ALI AGHA SHAHID

Agha Shahid Ali (1949-2001), author of several collections of poetry,was born in New Delhi. He grew up in Kashmir and studied in India andin the US. He taught English and creative writing in various universitiesin the US. He was awarded Guggenheim and Ingram-Merrill Fellowshipsand a Pushcart Prize, and his collection Rooms Are Never Finished wasfinalist for the National Book Award in 2001. He also published a volumeof translations of poems by Faiz Ahmed Faiz, The Rebel's Silhouette.
