\n\nA news story in Chicago Tribune dated 1 June 1987 said, ‘The man who is entrusted the job of putting an end to the rampant violence in Punjab is a strict Christian. He doesn’t carry a gun when he walks on the streets. He hasn’t even learned the local language. The Indian newspapers call him Super Cop. For his subordinates he is a hero and though reluctantly, even his enemies respect him.’
