Dr. K. Subramanya is a retired Professor of Civil Engineeringat the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was also the Head of Civil Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur. He obtained his Bachelor?s degree in Civil Engineering from Mysore University and Master?s degree from the University of Madras. Further, he obtained another Master?s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He has taught at IIT Kanpur for over 30 years and has extensive teaching, research and consultancy experience in the areas of Water Resources Engineering. Apart from the present book, Dr. Subramanya has authored three more successful books for McGraw-Hill Education India. These are: (i) Flow in Open Channels (5th edition, 2019), (ii) Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines (2nd edition, 2019) and (iii) Hydraulic Machines (1st edition, 2013).
