Experimental Strength of Materials

  • Format:

The present book on Experimental Strength of Materials has been written with a specific purpose of filling the void that exists in respect of laboratory work performed by students during preparation of degree. In most Indian Universities the laboratory courses in strength of materials and/or theoretical strength of materials for support during studies and for preparation of examination. The present text makes an attempt in providing back ground material for several experiments and also deals with the theories connected with different aspects of material behavior and testing. Such widely accepted tests for characterizing materials as tension, compression, torsion, impact, hardness, fatigue and creep have been included. It is expected that students will find the text highly helpful both during experimenting in laboratories and preparing for examination.
Contents: *Elements of strength materials *Experimental determination of elastic constants *Behavior under axial loading *Behavior under shear *Impact testing and properties * Hardness *Creep * Theories of failure *Non-destructive testing *Strain gauges
