Ashim Kumar Roy, a product of Presidency College, Calcutta joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1949 and served in the state and central government in various capacities. During 1959-6 he was at Harvard University as a Ford Foundation Fellow. He obtained his Ph.D. in History from Rajasthan University in 1976.
