His seventh book, 'How to Sort your Self Esteem' will be published in November 2024. He is the founder of The Recovery Letters project which publishes letters from people recovering from depression, addressed to people experiencing it. The Recovery Letters book was published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers (Hachette) in July 2017. The book was selected for World Book Night 2018 and as a Reading Well title in the same year. Cosmopolitan magazine named The Recovery Letters as 'One of the 12 mental health books everyone should read'. The sequel to The Recovery Letters book, 'What I Do to Get Through: How to Run, Swim, Cycle, Sew, or Sing Your Way Through Depression' was published by Jessica Kingsley in Feb 2021. James has been published in thirteen different countries and in numerous languages worldwide. James lives in Hove, East Sussex in the UK with his husband and emotionally damaged rescue cats.
