BR Chahar earned his PhD degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. He has completed MTech (Civil Engineering) with specialisation in Water Resources Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and received Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur University, Jodhpur. He started his academic career in Feb 1992 as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering, MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur. <br><br> He joined Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2003 as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering, he be- came Associate Professor in 2008 and then he was elevated to Professor of Civil Engineering in 2012. He has teaching experience over 32 years and has guided many Masters and Doctoral theses. His current areas of research include Groundwater flow & transport modeling, Seepage, Subsurface drain- age, Urban drainage, Channel design, Numerical methods etc.
