Moti Nandy (1931-2010) was one of very few writers of the world to have created an enormous body of fiction on the theme of sports. His novels and short stories capture the struggles and successes of the underdog in sports ranging from football and cricket to athletics and boxing. He lived in Kolkata and wrote in Bengali. Arunava Sinha is a translator of classic, modern and contemporary fiction, non-fiction and poetry from Bengali to English. More than twenty of his translations have been published so far. Born and brought up in Kolkata, he lives and writes in New Delhi.
