This is the 4th Revised Edition of the Title: My People, Uprooted: The Exodus of Hindus from East Pakistan and Bangladesh by Tathagata Roy. This books is a forceful exposure of atrocious human rights violations in the erstwhile East Bengal, later known as East Pakistan after the Partition of India in 1947 and till later as Bangladesh since its Independence in 1971. Hindu-Muslim relationship in India has always been a controversial topic. Anyone speaking on behalf of a particular community is likely to be dubbed as communal. Yet, truth demands outspokenness.
Tathagata Roy was appointed the Governor of Tripura in 2015. He has written and been published extensively, both in English and in his native Bengali, on subjects of social and political importance. A civil engineer by training, he was employed with the Indian Railways and later taught at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1990 and rose to be the state president of the party for West Bengal and a member of the BJP national executive. He is married, with two daughters, and has lived most of his life in Kolkata. He now lives in Agartala.
