Among the many defining developments in South Asia, Chinese investment in the ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) identified by connectivity networks, energy infrastructure and port projects has been an issue of intense debate and discussion among the strategic community, not only in South Asia but also far and wide.  Many countries that have received Chinese assistance under the BRI are now thinking about either cancelling, putting on hold or renegotiating infrastructure projects with the Chinese government and its companies.  There are now fears in Pakistan that the financial and technical assistance provided by China is a `debt trap`.  This volume is an attempt to understand the political, economic and security dynamics of the CPEC and is a `must read` for academics, policy makers and researchers who study South Asia`s strategic landscape.
