REFLECTIONS IN RHYME AND RHYTHM (HB)

  • Format:

In delightful and gently\n acerbic verse, Sibal has given us the benefit of a life’s experience.'\n                                                                                                    \n — Keki N. Daruwalla ,\n                                                                                                                      \n Poet and writer \n 'These excursions in verse reveal Kapil Sibal’s innermost concerns, his\n political preoccupations,\n his heartfelt emotions and his sense of mischief.'\n                                                                                                   \n — Dr Shashi Tharoor ,\n                                                                                       \n Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha \n \n  Reflections: In Rhyme and\n Rhythm  consists of cameo presentations\n of how I see my country. The watchful eye is able to discern farcical\n charades being played to woo, to deceive and then to conquer. The truth often\n eludes us. We are both inundated and overwhelmed with images which seek to\n colour and capture the mind. We live in an India where conflict and violence\n is justified through skewed moral fervour. We watch with unease the fragile\n lives of others destroyed with ease and\n without compunction. We often see what is not; we seldom get to see what\n is. \n Those in power cruise along by peddling lies. Any attempt to discover truth\n is targeted. Civilization\n marches on; times change, but the basic instincts of humans remain the\n same. Greed is a driving\n force with which empires were built. But the cyclical nature of human\n endeavour allows for change.\n Those who live a static life may find comfort but will go through their\n uneventful journey having\n lost their chance to live. \n Love and empathy help build bonds. They help unite people, a necessary\n pre-requisite for peace and\n prosperity. In their absence, the march ahead is full of thorns. The world\n occasionally misses those\n who sacrificed their lives for the noble cause of peace. Our world has\n forgotten them.
