Delhi, 1997. India's fiftieth year of independence brings political turmoil, but twelve-year-old Adi has bigger problems: his Ma is missing - again. Left with an ailing grandmother, a raging father and no answers, he finds an unlikely ally: an officer from the Department of Historical Adjustment.\n\nThe Department grants Adi access to his family's files - including his Ma's memories - transporting him on a journey to uncover the secrets that might finally explain the present. But first, he must prove he's ready to face the past.
A. P. Firdaus grew up in northern India and has worked as a writer for over a decade, in Delhi, Mumbai, Singapore and London. He holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia. He currently lives in Berlin.
