This book provides a fresh retelling of the life and works of Ādi Śaṅkara, one of India’s most brilliant and influential philosophers. Designed as an introductory guide, it caters to readers who want a comprehensive yet concise understanding of his legacy. It includes a bibliography for those interested in deeper exploration, ensuring that readers can continue their study beyond the book.
\nThe author explains the necessity of this work, despite the existence of numerous texts on Ādi Śaṅkara. Many prior works are either deeply devotional or overly critical, which may alienate readers seeking a balanced perspective. This book attempts to offer an unbiased narrative, acknowledging the inherent challenges of complete neutrality. Importantly, the author identifies as a follower of Sanātana-dharma, which provides context for their perspective while maintaining the book’s accessibility for a diverse audience.
