Why could not the Second World War catalyse science in India as it did in the West? This is one of the central questions of this volume on the British policy towards science and technology in India. About the Author Jagdish N. Sinha, Ph.D. in History, has taught at the University of Delhi, New Delhi. He has published and presented extensively, in India and abroad, on the social history of science in India, with focus on imperial­ism, colonialism, nationalism, indigenous response, Second World War, development, globalization, heritage and environment. Occasionally, he also writes for the popular press and appears on different media platforms.
