The little known language of sTodpa, a branch of Bhoti, is spoken in the small area of the upper region of the Bhaga Valley in Lahul in Himachal Pradesh, in the Western Himalaya by a group of people of about 4000. The area being located remotely in the harsh environment in the High Himalaya, the language remained since ancient past much saved from contacts with the other languages and unpolluted. As such the language preserves some valuable archaic features. The book attempts to cover various aspects of the language.
Tobdan (1944) was born and belongs to Lahul, Himachal Pradesh, India. He has been studying Lahul and its surrounding areas since very early in his life. The subjects are Languages, History, Culture, etc. He writes in English, Hindi and Bhoti. He has published abovt one and half a dozen books so far.
