The fourth edition of the Textbook of Microbiology for Dental Students has been written as per the syllabus prescribed by the Dental Council of India. Keeping in mind the requirements of dental students emphasis has been on the oral manifestations of various microorganisms. \n\nEach chapter has been carefully updated and expanded to include new, medically relevant, discoveries. Laboratory diagnosis of various microbial infections has been summarized with the help of flowcharts. Each chapter ends with key facts and important questions. The former summarize the whole chapter and help the student with last-minute revision for theory, practical, and viva voce examination, and the latter helps the student to know the type of questions asked in the examination. \n\nThe language is lucid and easy to understand. In oral microbiology, emphasis has been on the normal flora of the mouth and respiratory tract, dental plaque, dental caries, periodontal diseases, and dentoalveolar abscess. In the chapter on hepatitis viruses, emphasis has been on various hepatitis viruses and dentistry.
