Debashis De was born on 28th November 1958 in Bowbazar Street of old central Calcutta in a traditional Bengali family. He finished his school from Hindu School, College Street, Calcutta and did his Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta. Professionally he was an Oil and Gas downstream expert who rose to apex level. He has worked for 35 years in India and Middle East. He is an old Calcutta enthusiast and roams around streets and ghats of Calcutta often, writes and draws urban sketches of these places to immortalise them before they vanish from Calcutta and soon made into a concrete box called apartments. The idea of writing this book, if you may call it a book is to create a memory of Kolkata or erstwhile?Calcutta.
